País de Poetas: Contemporary Art & Artists from Santiago to Brooklyn

Curated by Isolde Brielmaier and Omar Lopez-Chahoud, País de Poetas: Contemporary Art & Artists from Santiago to Brooklyn presents ten artists who share the commonality of Chilean nationality with a multiplicity of experiences and creative practices. These artists tackle current social, political, and cultural ideas about Chile, the US, art, economic issues, and identity from the perspective of individuals residing both within and outside of Chile.

In conjunction with the exhibition, a discussion with select artists moderated by Christian Viveros-Faune will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at 7 pm. For information, please call 718 875-4047 x11.

Artists include: Francisca Benitez (Brooklyn), Ivan Navarro (Brooklyn), Patrick Hamilton (Santiago), Diego Fernandez (Brooklyn/London), Juan Cespedes (Santiago), Felipe Muijica (Brooklyn), Mario Navarro (Santiago), Cristobal Lehyt (Brooklyn), Nelson Rivas (Brooklyn), Dario Escobar (Guatemala City).

The gallery's Project Room features an installation by Guatemala City-based artist Dario Escobar.
